If you’re getting married in the winter there’s a little bit more pressure to make sure your invitation stands out. With all the holiday cards and ugly sweater party invites coming in people’s doors you really want your wedding invitation to stand out. Paula from Mauro Design sent us some photos of their latest work and I think they definitely have that extra sparkle and are perfect for an opulent winter wedding.

Sacred Sweets

Good packaging design always gets me a little excited. And when that pretty package happens to contain something delicious, well that really gets me going.

I love how Miche Bacher and Nanao Anton of Sacred Sweets incorporate decorative paper into their products. As much as I love to admire the perfectly wrapped treats however, it probably wouldn’t be long before I rip through them to get to the goodies inside.

Learning Your ABC’s

It’s that time of year, time for all the little ones to grab their lunch boxes and head back to school. I can only imagine how difficult it is for parents to send their children off to school for the very first time. I think however that is one of the best times in school. Before the world of advanced geometry or 10 page essays you get cute colorful pencil boxes and learing your ABC’s. I may not have any kids but I still love these alphabet collages from Fiddleheads for Fiona.

I guess I could always get this one for my little poodle Aimee.

Current Obsession – Koi Fish

A traditional symbol of fortune and luck, apparently there are some koi fish that sell for over $20,000. Even more amazing there are people who are willing to pay that much for a fish.

I am not one of them.

I do however find them absolutely beautiful. So instead of digging a pond in my backyard and selling my car in order to buy a koi, I think I’ll just admire these paper koi creations.

These origami koi fish are designed and folded by Sipho Mabona from one uncut sheet of paper.

Koi fish have been a trend in tattoo art for years. Faye & Co used that pairing as their inspiration for these wedding invitations.

Created by Lara Fisher these koi light sculptures remind me of a glowing fish tank at night…very tranquil.

Marble Intensity from Renato Crepaldi

I gave a tiny peak at these new art marbles from Renato Crepaldi here, but now I get to show them in all their beautiful glory.

These are not like any of our other marbled papers, go anywhere near them with a pair of scissors and we may tackle you. They were created as art, signed by Renato Crepaldi, and belong in a frame.

It may sound clique but the photos of them simply do not do them justice. The colors are more vibrate than any paper or marble I’ve ever seen. We had a one of them in a corner of our office and everyone that came in went straight to it continuously mumbling ”oh my God, that is so gorgeous”.

Keeping With Tradition

A June wedding means a June anniversary…and time to buy a gift.

Traditionally the first anniversary is paper, which I know a few people find boring for some strange reason (not us of course, we think paper is the greatest thing on earth). These anniversary style papercuts by Julene Harrison however are far from boring.
